This image portrays Christ as "The Lord of the Harvest", when Jesus will burn off the chaff and the weeds and sort out the good fruit of the harvest. Jesus predicted this final winnowing of souls and warns that it will be unpleasant for many.

So, even though this is not an especially attractive image of Christ, it does serves as a good warning. When I finally stand before the Lord Jesus on the last day, I don't want him to have THIS expression on His face when He looks at me!
